Cinema City opens its flagship project: Yes Planet in Rishon LeZion, Israel.
The biggest megaplex of the Company across 7 countries
Today Cinema City International opens its 24 screen multiplex Yes Planet in Rishon LeZion, Israel. The cinema has 3632 seats and is 100% digital. In Rishon LeZion Cinema City International will operate its first digital IMAX theatre in the country. The cinema will also offer the first 4DX cinema projection in its circuit which apparently will be first 4DX in Europe! The new multiplex is the biggest and the most technically advanced amongst its all locations. Currently, in Israel Cinema City operates 115 screens in 13 multiplexes.

Cinema City in Israel has 13 multiplexes with 115 screens in 8 cities: Haifa, Jerusalem, Modiin, Rishon LeZion, Bat-Yam, Tel-Aviv, Ramat-Gan, Petach-Tikva. The Company’s cinemas operate under the “Rav-Chen” and “Planet” brands and they hold leading position in the exhibitor market.
The new megaplex will serve large part of the Gush Dan area with a population of approximately 2 million inhabitants. Rishon LeZion is the fourth-largest city in Israel, located along the central Israeli coastal plain. The city has a good access from Tel-Aviv (20minutes) and very strong client potential. During 2011, the Company closed its old cinema 4-screen cinema in Rishon Letzion.
Greidinger added: “The project in Rishon LeZion represent a great concept for entertainment surrounded with big offer of restaurants, coffee shops, pub, etc. and most important it is a Mega Plex where you not only choose a film but also how to watch it. We offer the huge IMAX format, the “wild” 4DX format, the great experience on the big screens or the elegant and quite atmosphere of the V.I.P halls.”
In 2011 Israeli operations generated EUR 46.7 million, which were 17.5% of the Company’s total revenues in 2011 In addition to the theatre operation, the Company also runs cinema-related businesses: cinema advertising and film distribution through Forum Film Israel, which is the exclusive distributor of Walt Disney Studio other independent studios. In addition to it Forum Film also serves as a sub-distributor of Sony and Fox studios for A.D. Matalan.
Cinema City International is the largest multiplex cinema operator in Central & Eastern Europe and in Israel. The Company operates 98 multiplexes with 943 screens, in 7 countries (Poland, the Czech Republic, Hungary, Romania, Bulgaria, Slovakia and Israel). There are 29 more multiplexes under development, which will offer almost 300 new screens. In addition, Cinema City is actively involved in cinema related advertising and film distribution.
In 2011 Cinema City sold 35.5 million tickets in 7 countries, 16.2% more compared to 2010.
The Cinema City group employs over 4,000 people in 7 countries.
